Coming home 'the other way' from Europe
A fair chunk of availability is heading over to Europe from the East Coast of Australia in Business Class for October and November 2022. There's not much coming back, presenting a fruitless opportunity for the ready-to-fly points collector
There may just be another way back to the East Coast of Australia via the USA. This routing will add a few hours to travel time, but if it's in First or Business Class, does it really matter?
We set out to find a way to back using First or Business rewards via the USA. There’s availability on EK409 on the 9th of November, connecting through to Paris on EK75.
EK409 and EK75 are A380 flights; 24 hours in the sky will fly by in the stunning business class suites, complete with a lie-flat bed, an in-flight premium bar and a gourmet menu of regionally inspired dishes.
After spending a week or two in Europe, the best way to get back via the United States will be to head to London and then connect through to Dallas or Los Angeles, where you can get a direct flight back to Sydney. These routes tend to have more availability as there's no such frequent flyer points duopoly, like here in Australia.
The total amount of time in the sky adds up to 33 hours. This fare route includes a stopover in Los Angeles and sets the traveller back 198,400 points and €516.
British Airways and Qantas will provide comfortable, flat business-class amenities, delicious food and wine
If time is not a pressing concern, it’s a good use of points, coming in at around 3.5 cents of value to the dollar. Flights from British airways westbound back to Australia will cost you $7300 and take 26 hours.
Happy Searching!
