Perth part two, on Emirates to Dubai

Perth has become a gateway city for frequent flyers looking to redeem their points; a savvy frequent flyer can use Perth to expand their network and search opportunities for classic reward redemptions. For those that live outside of Perth, elsewhere in Australia, it's often a domestic flight over during the day, then a nighttime flight to your international destination.

In Part two of the Perth specials, we'll explore booking a ticket to Dubai on Emirates and share current availability throughout 2023. Emirates flies daily to Dubai. There is limited availability for reward bookings, those wishing to use points will likely only get one direction, so it's best to read our mixing fares guide. Alternatively, frequent flyers could consider leaving via the east coast, where there is current availability, and then returning to Perth.

Once in Dubai, you can connect to a short Emirates flight to anywhere in Europe. There is outbound classic reward availability for this routing on November 24, 26, 29, and 30.

Business Class Example

Routing from PER direct to DXB, on QF8421, an A380 service, we'd need to pay for the flight out at the cost of $6,411, then use 90,000 points and $1,191 in taxes.

A paid business class fare on this flight is retailing for $12,809.06. The 90,000-point redemption provides $5,207.06 worth of value or 5.7 cents of value per point ($12,809.06 - $7,602).

First Class Example

The limited availability allowed only a 2-day trip to Dubai calculation in first class. Only the keenest point redeemer would see value in 2 days, but for illustration purposes, it will do.

Routing from PER direct to DXB, on QF8421, an A380 service, we'd need to pay for the flight out for $8,577, then use 129,300 points and $1,191 in taxes.

A paid first-class fare on this flight is currently retailing for $17,141.06. The 129,300-point redemption provides $7,373 worth of value or 5.7 cents per point ($17,141.06 - $7,373 divided by 129,300).

We'll keep an eye out for return Perth to DXB flights and will update our blog if any become available! In the meantime, if you're considering paid travel, a oneway points redemption may be the way to go.
