Epic hotel bonus points will cover business class flights.

Qantas has an epic hotel bonus points promotion on offer. Until Friday, the 28th of October, booking a hotel on the Qantas Hotels website will net 9 points for Qantas Frequent Flyers and even more for points club members. Hidden in the fine print is an extra 25% for points club and 50% extra for Points Club Plus, bringing it to 11.25 and 13.5 points per dollar spent, respectively.

Running the numbers, a Points Club / Plus member can cover a single business class airfare to the hotel destination. Examples below:

Staying seven nights at the Four Seasons resort will deliver 127,413 for a Points Club Plus member. The Four Seasons booking will cover business class flights for the same period at 114,000 points. The same flights are currently retailing at $4,056.

If you’re planning a two-week trip to the United States, staying at the West Hollywood edition for 15 nights will net you enough points to cover your flights. Fares are currently priced at $26,319.

A couple of things to note, the points don’t post right away on Qantas Hotels; you will need excess points to use and then top the balance back up after the trip. Also, with limited availability for business class bookings, you’ll want to line up flight points availability before buying the hotel.
